Greetings Friends,Please mark your calendars for our 2011 Annual Meeting on Sunday, October 16th, at the Okee Community Center. We plan to start out with a social hour, share a meal, and then hold our meeting. Watch your mail for more information.One of the most anticipated parts of the meeting is the Citizen Environmental Awards that we bestow on deserving folks in our community. If you would like to nominate someone for an award please let us know by September 20. Send nominations to Bill Welch at billpatti@charter.net.Here are the categories of awards:

Partner Award
This award is presented to an individual within an organization or body of government. The recipient works for a non-profit or governmental agency and has provided ongoing and long-term service, above and beyond their regular duties.

Environmental Citizen Award
This award is presented to organizations and individuals who have championed innovative programs or processes that protect the environment; issues champions that have effectively battled environmental challenges; acted as consistent leaders in the environmental movement; actively carried the FSLV mission to decision-makers and the public; or served as decision-makers that consistently promoted legislation or regulations that protect the environment

Gadfly Award
This award is presented to organizations and individuals who have served the Lodi valley community by rousing people from complacency through continually speaking out and keeping environmental issues at the forefront.

Lifetime Achievement
This award recognizes people who have demonstrated a life-long commitment to environmental activism in the scenic Lodi valley.

The Friends of Scenic Lodi Valley is a diverse group of caring residents offering their experience, skills and time to the community, in the interest of preserving and promoting the special quality of life in the valley. Land use, geographical features, environmental quality, and historical heritage are factors which define our way of life and our identity in the Lodi Valley. The Friends are committed to addressing special concerns that may erode that way of life. We welcome all who share desires to further this vision.
